BREAKING THE STIGMA OF "MADE IN CHINA"

jewels-aces-header.png

"Made in China" – We often associate this label with sweatshops and mass production of low-quality goods, all thanks to major retailers, especially those in the fast fashion industry (yes, I'm looking at you Forever 21 and H&M). How many times have you picked up an item, saw "Made in China" on the tag, and immediately put it back on the shelf? I know I have ... on several occasions.

But is it really safe to assume that all things made in China are cheaply-made and unethically produced? Not exactly... In fact, over recent years a growing number of smaller fashion startups have partnered with responsible producers in China, hoping to break this stigma and prove that "Made in China" can also mean expertly crafted and ethically-made.

One such company is Jewels & Aces, which specializes in creating versatile jewelry essentials designed for everyday wear. They've partnered with a new generation of talented, passionate artisans in Guangzhou, China, who honor the traditional craftsmanship of fine jewelry-making, value ethical production and responsible materials, and embrace modern innovation.

To streamline the production process and ensure quality control, Jewels & Aces works directly with their producers. By eliminating the middleman, they're also able to offer their products at an affordable price – without sacrificing ethics. In an effort to reduce waste, Jewels & Aces produces their jewelry in limited quantities, with some pieces even made-to-order. Each piece is handcrafted from precious metals like 14K gold and sterling silver, and conflict-free stones like sapphire and premium graded cubic zirconia.

It’s not where it’s made that’s important, but who makes them and how.

Jewels & Aces reached out to me recently to style a couple pieces for you guys, and after much debate, I ended up choosing the Pavé Line Earring and the Solitaire Earring. I loved both so much... I simply couldn't decide between the two! I've been on the hunt for a nice pair of gold diamond earrings and both fit the bill.

THE PAVÉ LINE

Handcrafted from 14K gold vermeil and cubic zirconia stones, the Pavé Line Earring is a minimalist's dream. It's refined, rectangular design is equally sophisticated and edgy, making it effortlessly transition from day to night, which is a must in my book.

THE SOLITAIRE

There's a reason why the solitaire has withstood the test of time – it goes with just about anything and everything. I especially love the simple metal framing on this pair, which adds a unique, modern touch to a timeless classic.
